Schiphol Plaza has grown into one of the world’s great shopping malls, with hundreds of shops located before passport control—hence the motto “shopping for everyone.“ Find products from the Netherlands and the region throughout the airport, whether you’re flying back to the states or meeting a friend.

A few top picks:

  • Tulips are quintessentially Dutch. Buy hand-packed tulip bulbs at Aviflora, and a health certificate good for a customs walk-through in both Canada and the United States is included. Fifty mixed-color flower bulbs are €17.95. Plant through December for next spring.
  • Belgian chocolates are among the world’s finest. Look for Leonidas chocolates; a one-pound assortment starts at €24; or, equally as delicious, Neuhaus chocolates, made in Brussels, are €16.25 for a small collection. Ask for samples at any of the shops throughout the plaza.
  • Traditional blue and white delftware comes in all shapes and sizes. Find scores of windmills, spoon rests, plates and mugs for as little as €7.95. Hand-painted, hand-signed Delft is here, too.
  • At the Delicatessen you’ll find aged Wyngaard Chèvre, Dutch goat’s milk cheese. A good-sized hunk is €33.95, or choose Old Gouda "Leiden" cheese for just €11; both are also customs-ready.
  • Go for bling! Diamonds cut and polished in Amsterdam’s diamond center are less expensive here. Hand-written certifications for all diamonds are included at Gassan locations throughout the plaza.
