“When I think of Boston, I think of beauty and beer, grit and grease and coffee and sports all jammed together on top of each other,” David Walton says of his former hometown. “I love it.” Walton currently stars on NBC’s hit show About a Boy, which chronicles a bachelor’s unexpected bond with his 11-year-old neighbor. In June, Walton hits the big screen in Think Like a Man Too, the sequel to the sleeper hit. And later this year, he headlines Break Point, a film about two brothers trying to win a grand slam doubles title. Tennis is one of Walton’s favorite sports, but hockey, which he’s played since age four, remains a first love. Whenever Walton returns to Boston, he’s always up for a game as well as visiting these haunts around Cleveland Circle.

Pino’s Pizza: “The same guy has been working there since I was five. It takes the cashier three minutes to get the total. I hear the number, and I’m like, ‘Dude, I trust you.’ ”

Cleveland Circle Station: “Boston has a lot of European qualities to it, and one of them is the charm of its above-ground trollies. This station has the T to get you anywhere you need to go.”

Mary Ann’s: “When we’re here really late, we call it ‘Scary Ann’s.’ It’s a true dive, and there is a line out the door every night. A beer is like a dollar.” Pro tip: It's cash only. Bring some extra dollars for the jukebox.

Roggie's: “This sports bar is great. People get loud and rowdy. Boston is so laced with jerseys that you can be dressed head to toe in team apparel and no one will look twice.”
