A Perfect Day in Buenos Aires

Petroni suggests a stop at MALBA, the Museo de Arte Latinoamericano de Buenos Aires (Latin American Art Museum of Buenos Aires).

Olga Petroni, general manager of the Alvear Palace Hotel, is passionate about her city. Says Petroni, “Buenos Aires offers visitors a chance to enjoy all types of shows and entertainment, museums and historical centers, restaurants and first-class boutiques, art galleries and antiques shops.” She offers a perfect day in the South American city.

  • Start your day by visiting a few top museums, including the Latin American Art Museum of Buenos Aires and the National Museum of Decorative Arts.
  • Next up, head for Palermo, a neighborhood long inhabited by bohemians and intellectuals as well as art and literature enthusiasts. Palermo Soho brims over with designer and decorative stores, while Palermo Hollywood houses bars and restaurants run by young and creative chefs. Choose any of the colorful cafés for a spirited lunch.
  • Spend the afternoon in San Telmo, one of the oldest neighborhoods of the city. The Russian Orthodox Church is a must-see spot. And on Sundays you must check out the bustling antiques fair.
  • Come nightfall, experience tango. Esquina Carlos Gardel is located very near the city center in the traditional quarter of Abasto, near where the famous singer- songwriter Carlos Gardel lived. You can enjoy a tango show while eating local Argentine specialties paired with exceptional wines.
