Detroit Metropolitan consistently ranks high on customer satisfaction surveys.

Miles from downtown: 22
Number of terminals: 2

The 24th-largest airport in the world, Detroit Metropolitan consistently ranks high on customer satisfaction surveys, largely for its high percentage of on-time flights. It is also a main international gateway airport for the United States, so chances are that frequent travelers will spend some time in the famed mile-long McNamara Terminal, the second-longest airport terminal in the world.

Art Installations // To get to concourse B or C from concourse A, travelers take a passenger walkway that passes under the tarmac apron and two runways. Known as the Light Tunnel, the walls glow with a LED light installation with colors and patterns changing to an original score. McNamara is also home to a granite water installation designed by WET, which created the famed fountains of the Bellagio in Las Vegas.

History // Take in a quick history lesson and visit the Motown Music Review (concourse A), where you can check out classic Motown sound. Or stop at the Henry Ford Museum Store (concourse A), which carries plenty of educational materials along with its model cars. Want a bite of Detroit history? Get a chili dog at National Coney Island, birthplace of the famous hotdog. (That’s right, Coney Islands originated in Detroit, not Coney Island in New York City!)

I love Detroit Metro Wayne Airport. It's one of the best the I have been to, second is the San Francisco International Airport. I love coffee smell in airports. It tells me I am home sweet home already ^_^
