Experience one of America’s most beautiful and celebrated sunsets.

There is perhaps no place on earth that bids the sun good night with such spectacle and enthusiasm as Key West. And with the same breathtaking view each night, year-round, it’s no wonder people of all ages make time to watch the sun sink into the Gulf of Mexico at the nightly Sunset Celebration at Mallory Square downtown.

The Sunset Celebration is a quintessential Key West experience, showcasing the contagious spirit of the city and its paradise-like attitude. Visitors to Mallory Square will find a colorful waterfront arts festival that is unscripted and unique. Local artisans and painters set up their mini outdoor market, while opposite them a tightrope walker’s silhouette tiptoes across the horizon. The occasional fire-eaters and jugglers have been known to entertain the crowd, offering free performances in the middle of the square.

Festivities begin about an hour before sunset and continue after sunset. Try to arrive 30 to 60 minutes early to grab some grub from the food carts stationed around the dock, and partake in the fanfare of Mallory Square in anticipation of the southern Floridian sunset. Once the sun begins to slip into the blue, have your camera at the ready, snap away and enjoy the view.
