Big Dam Bridge

7600 Rebsamen Park Road

Price:  Free admission

Type:  Nature Centers & Zoos, Sports

Without question the most talked-about span in Little Rock’s trail system, this bridge over the Arkansas River is the longest one in North America built specifically for pedestrian and bicycle use. At 4,226 feet (about four-fifths of a mile), the bridge rises 90 feet above the Murray Lock and Dam, where it connects Murray Park in Little Rock with Cook’s Landing Park across the river in North Little Rock—along with 15 miles of scenic riverside trails. Eight observation decks tie into the bridge, allowing you to take a break to enjoy the view. Plazas on both riverbanks feature giant concrete monoliths (each weighing 6 to 8 tons) that were cut out of the dam during construction to accommodate the footings of the bridge.
