Transportation 101

The Miami International Airport is the third busiest in the U.S. It is 9 miles northwest of the center of Miami and about a thirty-minute drive from Miami Beach. Taxis are plentiful at cabstands and a variety of shuttles are available, though they’re more dependable when heading back to the airport. Hailing a cab in Miami Beach is a breeze but taxis are not so plentiful in downtown Miami unless you’re at a hotel. There’s a Metromover that serves downtown, covering a loop of about 1.9 miles from the Omni shopping center to the financial district. Within South Beach, there’s a local shuttle that makes its rounds every 10 to 15 minutes, which costs a quarter to ride
