Country music artist Kelsea Ballerini’s star is on the rise, and she has two coveted 2016 Country Music Association Award nominations—female vocalist and new artist of the year—to prove it. The triple threat (singer, songwriter and guitar player) counts big names such as Taylor Swift among her friends but still manages to be in awe. “I let myself fangirl all the time!” she laughs. Her platinum-selling song “Love Me Like You Mean It” has become an anthem for young love, and next month, the 23-year-old kicks off her first 13-city headlining tour, aptly named The First Time. Before hitting the road, she’ll be in Music City for the 50th annual CMA Awards on November 2. “Nashville has a magic about it,” she says. “It feels like home.”

Corner Music
“Every time you walk in, you see somebody, like famous studio musicians or musicians home from a tour. They have so many beautiful guitars. I get inspired every time I go in.”

Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams
“I always get the brown butter almond brittle [ice cream]. It’s to die for. I buy it by the pint, and I’m not even sorry about it!”

Draper James
“Reese Witherspoon opened this boutique. It has these really classy, awesome patterned dresses and cute tote bags that say ‘Totes Y’all!’ I love getting dressed up every now and again.”

Frothy Monkey
“I went to college a few blocks away. Whenever I wanted to get off campus, I came [to this coffee house]. Music industry people were always around.” Her go-to splurge? A rosemary-honey latte.
