Yankees general partner Jennifer Steinbrenner Swindal shares her love of the city and her team.

"New York is such a magical city,” says Jennifer Steinbrenner Swindal. And she should know: She is one of the driving forces behind the New York Yankees, serving as the general partner/vice chairperson for the beloved baseball team that her father, the late George Steinbrenner, owned for nearly 40 years. During baseball season, you’ll probably find her at the sparkling new Yankee Stadium, but Swindal also has a full life away from the ballpark. We talk to her about her favorite food haunts, the latest must-see Broadway show and a little about baseball, too.

What are some of your favorite memories at Yankee Stadium?
The ones that stick in my mind the most include transferring the dirt from home plate in the old stadium to the new stadium, the all-star game in 2008 with my dad and, obviously, the World Series in the new stadium—winning it the first year in 2009.

When guests are coming to town, which restaurants are on your must-visit list?
The ‘21’ Club, which to me defines New York. It is such a treat to go there for lunch and have one of their amazing hamburgers or chicken hash or lobster salad. Also, the Oyster Bar in Grand Central. The restaurant and architecture are amazing whether you’re enjoying oyster stew during lunch at the bar or having dinner in the main part of the restaurant.

Describe your perfect Sunday in New York City.
It would start with going to St. Patrick’s Cathedral, because it is so majestic and helps define New York. And then going home, changing and putting on my walking shoes and going out to a street fair, walking the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Reservoir [in Central Park], visiting the Central Park Zoo, The Metropolitan Museum of Art or the American Museum of Natural History. I love seeing all of the wonderful people out and about.

What was the last Broadway play you saw?
Jekyll & Hyde, starring Constantine Maroulis, Deborah Cox and, most importantly to me, my daughter, Haley Swindal.
