Andy Ricker, Pok Pok’s owner, is considered one of Portland’s top chefs and in 2011 won the James Beard Award for Best Chef: Northwest. Even the drinking water is flavored with Pandanus leaf to give it the toasted rice-vanilla flavor found in northern Thaliland. Seating is available inside and out where diners sit under open-air tents. Diners go gaga for the spicy fish sauce wings. Expect a bit of a wait, but the bar offers a substantial variety of creative drinks to help pass the time.
