Fun Facts

Though the Seattle area has been populated for more than 4,000 years, the first white settlement was not established until the 19th century. Arthur A. Denny established the first permanent European settlement in 1851, and now the metropolitan area is home to more than 4 million people.

Seattle is among the top five cities for cycling according to Bicycling magazine. The city has approximately 28 miles of bike-and-pedestrian-shared paths, 22 miles of on-street, striped bike lanes and about 90 miles of signed bike routes. An estimated 4,000 to 8,000 people commute throughout Seattle by bicycle each day depending on weather condition.
