After the roof of the airport’s C Concourse was damaged in an April tornado, Lambert-St. Louis airport quickly adapted while the concourse was being repaired. Now operating at capacity, the airport is proving that the spirit of St. Louis is alive and well.

Exciting additions // The airport is in the midst of a $70 million renovation—its largest makeover since it opened in 1956—that will update the concourse’s interior, including new lighting, tile, signage and restrooms. Plus there will be brand-new ticket counters and flooring in Terminal 1. The updates should be completed by the end of 2012.

A Taste of St. Louis // Two popular St. Louis dining spots have outposts in the airport—Mosaic, which is known for its tapas, and The Pasta House Co. And local wines are on display at Missouri Vineyards, which offers wine tastings and a variety of small plates, soups, salads and sandwiches.

Local Art // The airport recently unveiled its first permanent art installation project in 20 years, the Art Glass Screen Project. Nine local artists each created a design to be displayed on a 50-square-foot glass canvas that is currently being installed throughout the concourses.
