This world-class museum located in the heart of downtown is as famous for its collection of 6 million objects—the focus is on natural history and world culture—as for its exterior. Architect Daniel Libeskind designed the 50,000 square-foot deconstructivist building—all sharp edges, mathematical planes and poking angles prodding out over Bloor Street. Step inside the museum’s excellent permanent galleries to learn about Canada’s First Peoples, view 600 rare gems and minerals, the cultures of South and Central Asia and, of course, dinosaurs. Liza’s Garden is a vibrant sanctuary of greenery that not only reduces the heat island effect but also provides shelter for birds and other creatures.
