This 28,000-sqaure foot museum is the only museum in the world dedicated to the collection and preservation of artifacts and memorabilia associated with Air Force Armament. Outside of the museum, see the fastest plane ever built, the SR-71 Blackbird, which can reach speeds up to 2,900 miles per hour, as well as other planes from the Korean, Vietnam and Gulf wars. Inside, learn about how the introduction of aviation changed warfare in World War I and about the use of weapons of mass destruction and their delivery in World War II. During the Vietnam War aviators were in high demand, dropping more bombs with a lower loss rate than in any previous conflict. The museum also displays a variety of bombs, missiles and aircraft weaponry, including radar and laser guided missiles and the GAU-8 Gatlin gun, which can fire up to 4,200 rounds per minute.
