A self-proclaimed bike nut since his teen years, Whittingham has been building custom, handmade frames under the Naked Bicycles brand for more than a decade.

"I've always been into making stuff, and [Naked Bicycles] just seemed like the next logical step," says the British Columbia native, who learned his craft by working in bike shops.

One-of-a-kind designs and a perfect fit are the big draw with custom bikes, and Naked's rides boast both in spades. We love his retro-looking steel city bikes and the minimalist "Hors" frame that won the "People's Choice" award at the 2011 North American Handmade Bicycle Show.

We could continue gushing, but Whittingham says it best: "I want to make honest, simple bikes." Amen.
