Sasha Alexander is a veteran crime fighter. She’s played a district attorney on CSI, a special agent on NCIS, a DEA agent on Dark Blue and, most recently, medial examiner Maura Isles on TNT’s popular procedural Rizzoli & Isles, which was recently picked up for a fourth season. But don’t pigeonhole her—she’s also done understated indie flicks (The Last Lullaby) and thinky rom-coms (Coming & Going, directed by her husband, Edoardo Ponti, son of Sophia Loren and Carlo Ponti). Here’s how the versatile actress flies.

TRAVEL ESSENTIAL: A Kathy Rose arrowhead necklace. It always brings me grounding, peace and good energy.

REMINDER OF HOME: My Hermés journal in taupe leather that my best friend bought me for the birth of my son.

CARRY-ON OF CHOICE: My Louis Vuitton duffel bag.

MOST IMPRACTICAL ITEM EVER PACKED: A miniature Miele toy vacuum cleaner that my son got in Europe that started making a vibrating sound in the suitcase when we were checking into our flight!

STRANGEST ITEM EVER PACKED: A little wicker baby chair that I used every summer when visiting my grandparents in Belgrade, Serbia. I brought it home after they passed. Now my children sit in it almost daily and adore it.

LAST SOUVENIR PURCHASE: Glass-blown oil and vinegar bottles in Corsica with my husband, Edoardo. We always have olive oil on the table, and we use this one daily.

IN-FLIGHT READING: Why Be Happy When You Could Be Normal? by Jeanette Winterson.

DREAM TRAVEL COMPANIONS: William Shakespeare, because he was the first writer I fell madly in love with, and Gandhi, because don’t we all wish we had his wisdom and insight?

MUST-PACK MOISTURIZER: Egyptian Magic for my lips and dry spots.

FAVORITE AIRPORT: Zürich Airport (ZRH), Zürich, Switzerland. The clean, glass buildings are stunning.

TRAVEL UNIFORM: Current/Elliott “The Beatnik” jeans, Rag & Bone T-shirt with a Jenni Kayne sweater and a colorful scarf.
