The anchor of FOX News Channel’s Special Report with Bret Baier shares his love for Naples.

I’m sure my wife, Amy, would describe my job as a news anchor covering Washington as “nonstop.” And I bet she would tell you that I’m constantly attached to my iPhone. So when we go on vacation as a family, I try to unplug (really, I do) and to focus on doing family things. There is no better place for that than Naples, Florida. In fact, we like to call Naples our “home away from home.” My mom lives there full-time, Amy’s parents have a place there and we recently bought a condo there.

We have two very active young boys, and when we need to run them around, we head to Naples’ beaches, which are beautiful and wide—great for playing Frisbee or for creating the biggest sand castle in the history of the world (or at least on one particular trip). The Naples Botanical Garden is a must-see if you have kids—and even if you don’t. It has 170 acres with six different gardens, 2.5 miles of walking trails, 90 acres of nature preserve and plenty of things the kids can touch and play with, such as rakes and watering cans (I’ll let you know when I figure out how to translate that into yard work at home). The Golisano Children’s Museum of Naples is another must. It’s totally interactive, and you’re on the move the whole time—I was a pretend cashier at the pretend restaurant there for a good hour.

When Mom needs a little treat and Dad needs a Starbucks, we swing by the Waterside Shops, a great outdoor mall that has everything you need. And since our parents can help with the boys, Amy and I usually get a few date nights in Naples. We love eating fresh fish. The new FISH Restaurant in Venetian Village has spectacular views of the bay, as does M Waterfront Grille (ask for the fresh catch and sit outside if you can). If you’re in Old Naples downtown, head to Aqua on 5th Avenue, where you can sit outside and people watch as you dine on Mediterranean cuisine.

Naples is special—it really does feels like home. And the last time we visited, I only picked up my iPhone three times. OK, maybe four. //

Bret Baier only scratched the surface of Naples...many more "kid & adult" places to see and do. As to great restaurants there are so many I don 't know how he could only select a few with a view , and not any for the food too!
