With plenty of business, shopping and eating amenities, plus stunning design, it is easy to get swept away at the 20-year-old Munich Airport. Just try not to miss your flight.

Munich Airport Center // Once you wander into the giant MAC, which is the largest covered open-air space in Europe and connects terminal 1 and 2, it will be easy to forget you’re in an airport at all. Find shops, restaurants, medical offices and even special events such as professional volleyball games in the summer and an ice-skating rink and a holiday market in the winter. In the MAC Forum, find shops featuring high-end designers such as Hermès, Bulgari, Escada, MaxMara, Ralph Lauren and Zegna.

Beer Garden // Though airport bars are nothing new, Airbräu not only features a full beer garden, but it actually brews its beer onsite—the only such restaurant in any airport. Make sure to enjoy some of the Bavarian specialities—schnitzel, suckling pig—and live music with your beer.

NapCabs // Find yourself with an unexpected layover? Try a NapCab. Located throughout the terminals, the small rooms offer privacy within the departure gates. With a full sleeping surface, a desk and Internet, these small rooms can be rented by the hour for a place to work or rest.
