The thing to do on a summer weekend in Anchorage, this farmers and artisans market—part art fair, part flea market, part food festival—features 300 vendors from all around Alaska spread out over seven acres. When you work up an appetite, choose carefully from more than 30 booths offering Alaskan specialties like reindeer sausage dogs and halibut and chips. If you still want more, you can also step into the nearby Fourth Avenue Market for more crafts with a Native Alaskan focus as well as an exhibit on the great earthquake of 1964, which this former downtown shopping mall survived.
