Isabella’s House

Isabella's House may be one of the smaller museums in Boston, but it's definitely one of the local favorites.

Opened in 1903, the museum was created by Isabella Stewart Gardner—an avid art collector and world traveler—to house her collection of more than 2,500 pieces of art. Modeled after a Venetian Renaissance palazzo, the building wraps around an exquisite glass-roofed courtyard with manicured gardens. Inside, you can find everything from ancient Roman sculpture and Turkish tile to rare books and paintings by John Singer Sargent. The museum also hosts after-hours events and jazz concerts, giving visitors another chance to soak up its architecture and atmosphere.

Admission is $12 for adults, $10 for seniors, free for children accompanied by an adult and free for anyone named Isabella.
