Transportation 101

The T is still a good way to get from the airport to town. The new Silver Line takes you directly to South Station, which leaves you right in the financial district. To get to the Back Bay area, the old shuttle bus/blue line/green line is still the best route. With the completion of the Big Dig—one of the greatest things to happen to Boston—you can now get to Logan airport from downtown in 10 minutes. Leave yourself 30 minutes, just in case there's a freak accident. If you take a taxi, the charge is around $30 with tip. A lot of people—commuters and day trippers—drive into the city. Many also drive to their nearest T stop and park and then come in. Alewife is a big hub for that for northern/western suburbs and Quincy for South Shore suburbs.

"And this is good old Boston, the home of the bean and the cod, where the Lowells talk only to Cabots, and the Cabots talk only to God." --John Bossidy
