Bozeman isn’t big enough to call Livingston a suburb, but this tiny town on the Yellowstone River, a short drive over Bozeman Pass, is home to the only real destination dining in central Montana. Downtown Livingston feels frozen in 1950, but the 2nd Street dinner menu is decidedly contemporary, with amped-up Rocky Mountain comfort dishes such as bordelaise meatloaf and lamb-and-goat-cheese ragout. Local sourcing is the mantra. Chef Brian Menges has hosted (and impressed) celebrity foodies such as Anthony Bourdain.
