Budapest has an excellent public transportation system with a comprehensive network of buses, trams and subways. No visit is complete without a ride aboard the Soviet-era subway trains. Look for the BKV transit workers positioned at every subway station. They’re not always the friendliest folks, though they’re exponentially more helpful than their cabbie counterparts (who are famous for ripping off travelers).
