One of the best restaurants in the castle district, this comfortable and sleek restaurant endeavors to recreate the city’s pre-World War I dining experience. It serves updated (and lighter) versions of historic Hungarian dishes like rooster soup, duck pate and veal goulash. Because of the pre-war emphasis, 21 Restaurant is also reliving Hungary’s celebrated viticulture of the 18th and 19th centuries. It specializes in rare vintages like Keknyelu, which nearly disappeared under Communism.
