Charlestonstylish in the south

Set on the Charleston Harbor waterfront, the centerpiece of this attraction is the World War II aircraft carrier, the USS Yorktown. Walk in the shoes of the naval destroyer’s sailors and officers as you tour the flight deck, engine rooms and 40,000-square-foot hangar bay where engineers performed mechanical service on aircrafts. Memorials throughout the ship pay homage to the Americans that sacrificed their lives serving America and the shipyard museum houses some of the earliest diving equipment used by the first Navy Seals. Attracting more than 270,000 visitors each year, Patriots Point is also home to the Cold War Memorial, the headquarters of the Congressional Medal of Honor Society and the agency's official Medal of Honor Museum. When its time to kick your feet up, stop by the Smokey Stover Theatre to watch the 1944 Academy Award-winning movie "The Fighting Lady."
