When the John A. Roebling Bridge first opened to traffic in 1867, its central span of 1057 feet was the longest in the world and the bridge is the precursor to New York’s Brooklyn Bridge. The bridge connects Covington, Kentucky with Cincinnati and spans the width of the Ohio River. Each June, the Covington-Cincinnati Suspension Bridge holds Roebling Fest, a celebration of the bridge and its history, on the Covington side of the bridge.
