Clevelanda rockin' good time

You’ll see many things and places here that include the term “Western Reserve.” That’s because this was the land that was set aside for Connecticut Revolutionary War soldiers and for Connecticut families who lost their homes during that war. It was founded by Connecticut surveyor Moses Cleaveland (who didn’t actually stay here long) in 1796. The “a” in Cleaveland was dropped early on, after Cleveland became a city in 1814. The city’s population has recently dropped to about 400,000, but the region’s population has held fairly steady at about 1,275,000, for Cuyahoga County, and more than 2 million, including its neighboring counties.
