The Motts family has been educating the public on the importance of America’s military since 1870, when it first established a museum on its residence. In 1999, the museum moved to a more modern facility through the generosity of Columbus Attorney Robert R. Richards, former special agent of the War Department during World War II. Currently, the museum exhibits span all periods of military history in which the United States has been involved, from the Civil War to the current wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. The museum is located 10 miles south of Downtown Columbus and serves as a repository for the Ohio Military Hall of Fame. Check out the historically accurate replica of World War I flying champion Capt. Eddie Rickenbacker’s boyhood home, and learn the story of Joe Sepesy and explore the Huey Helicopter that he flew in Vietnam.
