It’s the magical Hundred Acre Wood multiplied by 60. There are literally 6,000 acres of Great Trinity Forest just eight miles from downtown Dallas brimming with flora and fauna. It’s difficult to imagine so much nature so close to bustling downtown. The Trinity Audubon Center is on 120 acres of bottomland hardwoods, wetlands and grasslands, and provides four miles of trails, picnic areas, and the like for your use in exploring the area. Check out ponds, the forest, the Trinity River and more. The number of bird species in the area will intrigue outdoorsy-types, as it’s possible to see more than 50 species in any given day. There are even classes and workshops, an interactive exhibit hall and events and kid’s activities offered in the beautiful LEED-certified nature center.
