This historic theater—originally a movie theater when opened in 1946—was built during the era of Art Deco design. It was taken over in 1977 by a guitar shop owner who made some changes to the stage, lighting and sound, among other things, to turn it in to a music hall. Throughout the years, it’s gone back and forth between music and movies, but today the theater is back to music, attracting acts such as Indie rockers They Might Be Giants, to blues from Johnny Winter.
