Some words to know when asking for directions: If someone says “go mauka,” that means towards the mountain. If they say “go makai,” that’s head towards the ocean. “Go Diamond Head” means go east towards Diamond Head and Ewa is west. It works because no matter where you are on the island, you can almost always see the ocean, the mountains and Diamond Head.
