Housed in a late 19th-century, classically styled building, the Istanbul Archaeological Museum houses an amazing range of art, including a wonderful display of sculptures. Standouts from the selection include the “Head of Sappho” and the “Head of Alexander the Great” and the “Statue of Oceanus,” originally housed at Ephesus. Be sure to visit the fascinating “Istanbul Through the Ages” display and the “Anatolia and Troy Through the Ages” collection. Plus, there are wonderful gardens surrounding the museum.
