Boasting 20,000 square feet of exhibit space, the Mississippi Children’s Museum is designed for creative exploration and hours of fun with innovative, interactive, themed exhibits that explore cultural arts, health and nutrition, literacy and science and technology. The life-size Scrabble board lets you test your wordsmith skills as you walk around the game shifting massive letter tiles, while the Mississippi climbing map digs into details about the state’s soil, volcano and fault line. Be sure to check out the museum’s Lighting Benches, which delve into the science behind electrical storms. Underneath each bench’s translucent surface is a hidden lattice of sensors that respond to the electrical charges within the human body, meaning kids can see the benches light up at their touch.
