For music lovers, the American Jazz Museum is a must-see. Many jazz legends got their start in Kansas City, from Count Basie to Charlie “Yardbird” Parker. The museum takes visitors back to their beginnings with interactive displays. See the world’s most expensive saxophone (just don’t try to play it), listen to jazz recordings from Ella Fitzgerald and Big Joe Turner and watch a video jukebox that plays jazz performances on demand. For the kids, there is an interactive audio mixing station where they can come up with their own tunes. Stop by The Blue Room for a drink and live performances. If you plan on visiting the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum next door, make sure to get joint admission for a discount.
