For a long time, America’s favorite past time was as segregated as the rest of America. Before Jackie Robinson took the field as a major league player, people of color played in a separate league called the Negro Leagues. The Negro League Baseball Museum in Kansas City is the only one of its kind, chronicling the history of amazing athletes who played in the leagues, from Satchel Paige to Buck O’Neil. The museum has an interesting display of memorabilia that tells the story of these men who played for the love of the game, as well as the lows caused by racism and segregation. If you plan on visiting the American Jazz Museum next door, make sure to get joint admission for a discount.
