Property mixologist Mariena Mercer pairs a festive relish with brandy, port and cinnamon syrup to potent effect. Drink up, and you’ll quickly find yourself in a festive mood.
SANGUINE EYES
1/2 oz. Dow’s fine ruby red port
1/2 oz. Germain-robin apple brandy
1/2 oz. Bittermans Hiver Amer
1 oz. cinnamon syrup
2 oz. cranberry relish
Shake all ingredients with ice, then strain into a champagne coupe.
"This cocktail is redolent of my mother’s cranberry relish, a seasonal staple at our family dinners," says Mercer.
