Run by childhood friends who both grew up in large Italian-American families, Andrew Michael Italian Kitchen serves a meaty mash-up of bold Southern and Italian flavors. Michael Hudman and Andrew Ticer’s cuisine hasn’t gone unnoticed—in 2013 they made the list of Food & Wine’s Best New Chefs, not to mention they were nominated for the James Beard Best Chef Southeast award. “Maw Maw’s ravioli” or any of the other house-made pastas are to die for. The Italian-Southern fusion entrées include lamb with cauliflower and sundried tomato sofrito, and rabbit with pancetta and brussel sprouts.
