History with a capital “H” resides in Nashville. The Hermitage, the former home of Andrew Jackson, is a National Historic Landmark. The impeccably groomed grounds hold not only the Hermitage mansion, but the tombs of the former president and Rachel Jackson, and Rachel’s garden. If you visit during the holidays, you’ll get a taste of how the traditions were celebrated and stately homes were decorated in the 1800s. The Hermitage is only 12 miles from downtown Nashville.
