James Beard Award-winning chef Sean Brock recently opened a new outpost of his renowned restaurant Husk in the Rutledge Hill neighborhood of Nashville. Brock’s ingredient-driven cuisine, which is composed entirely of products that are indigenous to the South, is sheer farmhouse perfection. For starters, the crispy pig ears are to die for. For entrees, you’ll find modern Southern plates such as Mississippi catfish with tomato gravy and mustard green marmalade, or pork with nine-hour cabbage and hominy. Pastry chef Lisa Donovan’s signature desserts are definitely a must—think pumpkin buttermilk pie with sorghum cream and pepita brittle, and butterscotch bourbon pudding with Appalachian salt. The restaurant also sports the best bourbon selection in the city.
