The Portland Sea Dogs are the city’s beloved minor league sluggers, a double-A baseball affiliate of the (even more beloved) Boston Red Sox. It’s a scrappy club that works hard to please its fans, so summer games at Hadlock Field on Portland’s West Side are heavy on fun theme nights and giveaways. Consider buying tickets to Elvis tribute night, the ever-popular free bobblehead night or death-and-taxes night, when one lucky fan receives a free headstone. If the promotions are goofy, the caliber of the baseball is high. Tickets are usually under $10, and for a few bucks more you can get a hot dog and a couple of Maine microbrews at the concession stand. Play ball!
