Amble beyond the downtown, touristy strip of the River Walk to its inviting northern stretch dubbed the Museum Reach, an outdoor art gallery within nature, where 12 inviting public art installations (including a fairytale waterfall grotto, giant glittering fish swimming in air, prisms of color swaying in the breeze and a restored historic footbridge) shimmer and inspire underneath bridges and alongside the banks of the river. Start at the Lexington Street Bridge and walk past the San Antonio Museum of Art toward the old Pearl Brewery. The trip is just over a mile long. Be sure to notice the extensive native plant landscaping and lighting that was also funded by River Foundation, a local arts and preservation organization.
