Casa Bacardi is the visitor center attached to the world’s largest distillery. Here the Bacardi Company, which moved here from Cuba after Prohibition (this enabled rum to be sold tariff-free in the United States) produces its signature brand of rums. The center blends contemporary architecture and modern technology with a heritage and tradition that dates back to 1862, when Don Facundo Bacardí Massó revolutionized the rum-making process. Visitors are invited to participate in an interactive tour through the distillery’s history and to observe the rum-making process and even have a taste. Special hand-held audio guides allow visitors to individually customize their experience. The tour is absolutely free and must be started at least one and a half hours before closing time.
