Transportation 101

Buses run throughout the city during the day and early evening and make frequent stops at clearly marked bus stop signs. And since parking and traffic can be messy in Santo Domingo, public transportation is usually your best bet.

Taxis are another great option for traveling around the city, but be sure to use a reputable cab company. Cabs are plentiful outside of hotels and the airport, but if you’re concerned about getting a safe ride, have your hotel or restaurant call a taxi for you. Rates are not determined by meter, so be sure to determine the far in advance before agreeing to the ride.
