Though there are neighborhoods in the city in which one can travel for whole blocks without seeing a hint of nature, the residents of Seoul see the presence of parks, mountains, and other natural elements as being as important and valuable as the city’s concrete jungle. From Jongno, where many of Korea’s principal corporate players and government agencies are headquartered, it is less than an hour’s drive to dense Korean forests and mountainous areas. This is an important characteristic of living in the city of Seoul because having a garden is reserved for the extremely wealthy for the most part so residents flock to the mountains and parks during the weekends.
