Namdaemun, which literally means “South Gate,” was once the southern entrance to the original walled city. The wall is long gone, but the gate still stands proudly in the rotary adjacent to this teeming market, one of Korea's largest wholesale markets (it covers more than 10 acres). This popular destination is a hotspot for both Koreans and visitors because it houses everything from traditional oriental medicine and leather goods, to Halloween decorations.
