You are almost guaranteed to see an alligator or four at Wakulla Springs State Park, which is home of one of the largest and deepest freshwater springs in the world. Take a glass-bottom boat tour along the river to see lots of indigenous creatures like gators, turtles and birdlife and where several major movies were filmed, including some of the classic Tarzan films. Also on the glass-bottom boat tour is Henry, The Pole-Vaulting Fish! Wakulla Springs has long been the home of Henry, the famous fish that dashes past and over a horizontal pole. Looking for some more activity in the park? Paddling in and around Florida’s Capital City in a kayak or canoe is a delight for both the experienced and novice paddler. Glide gently down a slow-flowing river taking in the sights and scenery or try your hand at kayak fishing. On a typical full-moon kayaking trip, you might find yourself quietly paddling along side a 2,000-pound (that’s a ton!) Florida manatee down the clear Wakulla River.
