Eat watermelon by the beach

Price: Beach access is free

Tel Aviv’s seaside promenade runs some nine miles from north to south, paralleling the beach, which is broken into different sections: Gordon and Frishman beaches are in the northern part, while Alma Beach is toward the southern and Jaffa is at the end. The entire stretch is dotted with open-air cafés, all of which have sections right on the beach. Each one is a veritable invitation to slow down and “chillax,” and whether you’re on the beach at high noon or sunset, relaxing by the urban shore is a quintessential Tel Avivi experience. None of the menus are very formal, and most offer that most Israeli of sweet treats, fresh-cut watermelon.
