Where you else in the world but Venice can you get a bird’s eye view of a city that’s shaped like a fish? The campanile, or bell tower, of St. Mark’s Square is actually a replica of the 16th-century bell tower that collapsed in 1902, injuring no one but killing a cat. At 323 feet tall, the red brick, triangular-tipped tower is the tallest structure in Venice. And the new one, completed in 1912, includes an elevator, so the only thing that will take your breath away is the sweeping view of Venice and its island-studded lagoon from the top.

"I will never forget experiencing Venice for the first time. It feels like you are transported to another time—the art, music, food and pure romance in the air is like no other place." —Elizabeth Berkley
