Aller à La Pêche!
As you may have noticed, I have taken de petites vacances on writing my blog installments. In France, folks check out for the month of August and call it “gone fishing,” so that’s my excuse. However, since fishing just isn’t my thing and I can’t think of anything more boring except perhaps golf or knitting, let’s say that I have “gone designing.”

Alors, aller à dessiner!
And what exactly do I mean by “gone designing?” Well, besides being your global go-to voice as editor/writer/blogger/style guru, I am also one half of the Brooklyn-based interior design team John Loecke Inc., a firm known for using gobs of color and putting an especial emphasis upon details. We mostly design residences, but we have also done a few restaurants—even a few ad campaigns. A recent adventure had us doing a back-to-school promotion for Walmart. Check out our Project Dream Dorm segment.
But what’s been really taking up our time is the Showtime show house in which we are participating. Every year the Showtime network invites a small group of designers to create spaces at a New York City show house based upon the shows that they are promoting. John and I are working on a garden room based upon the program Weeds, and it’s going to be amazing. The working title for the room is “Paradise Lost.” Here is an image of us installing a fabulous new, completely customized (and completely designed by me and John!) wall coverings product from HP called Wallskins that goes up with ease and comes down even easier.

The show house opens September 7 with a gala party, so stay tuned for more updates.
Pulling together a show house comes with lots of drama, ups and downs, laughs and a few tears. A show house is really a reality show in the making.
