The Brilliance of St. Barths

A relaxing, chic room at the Guanahani.

Sadly, all good things must come to an end, so my adventures upon the glorious isle of St. Barths have drawn to an end. Here, some highlights from my tropical trespasses:

The anthem for the trip was definitely “Million Dollar Bill” by Whitney Houston. We had this ditty blaring in the villa, as we cruised up and down the narrow roads in our Moke and on the beach as we sipped champers until dawn. Viva Whitney!

The wonderful spa at the Hotel Guanahani at nightfall.

A glorious afternoon at the Hotel Guanahani & Spa. I love this resort-like property with its colorful cottages scattered amongst ponds and verdant landscaping. We lunched by the pool upon freshly caught fish before sampling massages in the exquisite spa and drowning ourselves in Clarins products in the al fresco showers.

Dinners at Maya’s (hello, Donny Deutsch!), Le Sereno, Le Toiny’s gorgeous Restaurant Le Gaiac and the fun-and-funky La Plage. And don’t miss Bonito, the island’s hottest new spot with its stellar views of Gustavia from a living room-like setting high above town.

The restaurant at the Guanahani by night.

Scoping the yachts in Gustavia harbor including Russian kingpin Roman Abramovich’s awe-inspiring barque.

Watching the planes make the vertiginous drop onto the island’s impossibly short runway.

Hiking to tucked-away Colombier beach along the pristine cliffs.

Chic, chic, chic!
